Energy storage news - April 12th, 2019
This week’s TOP 5 includes a 10 MW / 10 MWh battery system to be deployed in Texas by Powin and Glidepath, storage-specific investment tax credits being pushed at the US congress, a new scheme by ConEdison in New York to deploy behind the meter energy storage systems, EDP and Exide deploying the first PV plus storage system in Portugal, and a successful round of funding for RedT.
- “Powin Energy will deliver 10 MW/10 MWh of energy storage system to GlidePath Power Solutions for an energy storage project to be constructed in 2019, in Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) territory.“
- The US congress attempts to introduce investment tax credits for stand-alone energy storage systems.
- Four systems of 1 MW / 1 MWh each are being deployed under a new scheme by ConEdison. In this scheme, ConEdison identifies congested areas and directly operates and remunerates batteries installed in C&I facilities in the area (instead of relying on the electricity bill reduction).
- Portuguese utility Energias De Portugal (EDP) announced that it will deliver a 3.8 MWp solar project with 500 kWh storage capacity for battery maker Exide.
- UK-based flow battery manufacturer RedT has raised £3.2m.
