Energy Storage news - April 13th, 2018

This week’s TOP 5 includes over 210 MW and 210 MWh to be procured in Lebanon, a potential 350 MW battery storage project in California by Recurrent Energy, the Armenia government discussing with Tesla for the delivery of a grid-scale storage system, the energy storage sector becoming a large provider of jobs in Germany, and a virtual power plant project by Liberty Utilities and Tesla in New Hampshire.

1. The Government of Lebanon is procuring a total of 210MWp to 300 MWp of PV, across three projects, each to be equipped with at least 70 MW / 70 MWh of storage.
2. “San Francisco-based developer, Recurrent Energy, has askedthe federal government for permission to build 350 megawatts of solar power, and up to 350 megawatts of battery storage in Riverside County, CA.
3. “Tesla is negotiating with the government of Armenia over supplying a grid-scale storage system”
4. According to BVES, the German association for solar energy, the German energy storage sector now employs more than 11,000 workers, about half of the numbers of the lignite sector.
5. New Hampshire-based Liberty utilities has selected Tesla to provide up to 1000 residential storage systems for a Virtual Power Plant demonstration project.
