Energy Storage news - February 7th, 2020

This week’s TOP 5 includes the near start of works at Neoen’s massive Culcairn solar-plus-storage project in Australia, Wärtsilä’s selection for two storage systems totalling 110MW/126MWh in Southeast Asia and Honduras,  Innogy’s upcoming 60-MW battery project in Ireland, India’s tender for 14 MW of solar plus 14MW/42MWh of battery storage and Umicore’s deployment of a 1.2MW/720kWh system made of second-life Renault EV batteries.

  1. Neoen is one step closer to the construction of its massive Culcairn project combining 402 MW of solar PV with 100MW/200MWh of battery storage in New South Wales.

  2. Wärtsilä secured EPC and technology supply contracts for two battery energy storage systems of 100MW/100MWh and 10MW/26MWh in Southeast Asia and Honduras respectively.

  3. Innogy will be deploying 60 MW of battery storage in Ireland.

  4. The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) is tendering for two projects, each combining 7 MW of solar with 7MW/21MWh of battery storage in the Leh and Kargil districts.

  5. Renault electric vehicle batteries get a second life through a 1.2MW/720kWh stationary storage system deployed at Umicore’s Belgian headquarters.
