Energy Storage news - January 10th, 2020

 

This week’s TOP 5 includes a 280 MW battery to be built near Las Vegas, an 11 MW project in Ireland, a 39.2 Million euros project transaction, the state of Maryland considering a new compensation for storage and the DOE awarding a $3 million grant for R&D to Eaton.

  1. NV Energy will provide 350 megawatts of solar and as much as 280 megawatts of battery storage for a new Google data center outside Las Vegas.
  2. Statkraft has completed an 11 MW battery storage project in Ireland, Fluence is the turnkey provider.
  3. In the UK, Gresham House acquired the commissioned 49 MW Red Scar project for 39.2 Million euros. 
  4. The Maryland Public Service Commission considers compensating energy storage based on their ability to reduce emissions and defer grid upgrades.
  5. The US Department of Energy has awarded a $3 million grant for research and development of solar and energy storage technologies to power management firm Eaton.
