This week’s TOP 5 includes a 70 MW battery storage system in northern Brazil, the acquisition of German residential storage specialist E3/DC by the Hager group, UK storage developer BESS receiving more than USD 100 million of investment, Lockheed Martin finalizing the development of its flow battery products and the purchase of a 1 MW / 2 MWh Tesla battery by Mercury in New Zealand.
- The Brazilian state of Roraima approved the purchase of a 70 MW / 35 MWh storage system. The system will be used to avoid load shedding caused by the instability of the interconnection with Venezuela. (in Portuguese)
- The Hager group, a provider of solutions for electrical installations, acquired E3/DC, a German company specialized in energy storage solutions for self-consumption.
- “Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS) has taken in more than US$100 million in outside investment, with plans to target 100 MW of UK projects.”
- Lockheed Martin expects to commercially launch its flow battery system before the end of this year.
- New Zealand based project developer Mercury has awarded a contract to Tesla for the purchase of a 1 MW / 2 MWh battery system.
