This week’s TOP 5 includes a 70 MW battery storage system in northern Brazil, the acquisition of German residential storage specialist E3/DC by the Hager group, UK storage developer BESS receiving more than USD 100 million of investment, Lockheed Martin finalizing the development of its flow battery products and the purchase of a 1 MW / 2 MWh Tesla battery by Mercury in New Zealand.

1. The Brazilian state of Roraima approved the purchase of a 70 MW / 35 MWh storage system. The system will be used to avoid load shedding caused by the instability of the interconnection with Venezuela. (in Portuguese)
2. The Hager group, a provider of solutions for electrical installations, acquired E3/DC, a German company specialized in energy storage solutions for self-consumption.
3. “Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS) has taken in more than US$100 million in outside investment, with plans to target 100 MW of UK projects.”
4. Lockheed Martin expects to commercially launch its flow battery system before the end of this year.
5. New Zealand based project developer Mercury has awarded a contract to Tesla for the purchase of a 1 MW / 2 MWh battery system.
