This week’s TOP 5 talks about Tucson Electric Power’s plans to replace coal by using 1.4 GW of energy storage, Gore Street’s recent acquisition of a 131-MW portfolio, Australia’s 500 MW wind plus 50MW/200MWh battery storage Wambo project, start of works at a 95-MW gas-solar-storage project in Thailand and the commissioning of a 65-MW PV plant with 19 MWh of battery storage in Japan.

 

  1. Arizona’s Tucson Electric Power is planning to replace coal generation with 2.5 GW of new solar and wind over the next 15 years and 1.4 GW of energy storage. 

  2. In an acquisition streak, Gore Street Capital secured a further 131-MW energy storage portfolio, of which 81 MW are operational.

  3. Renewable Energy Partners and Cubico Sustainable Investments are co-developing the Wambo project that will couple 500 MW of wind with 50MW/200MWh of battery storage by the end of 2022 in southern Queensland.
