Energy storage news - July 13th, 2018

This week’s TOP 5 includes a possible 3 GW storage deployment target by 2030 in New York, a novel way to extract Lithium by Californian startup Lilac, Cellcube installing a vanadium flow battery in Germany, EnerNOC developing a 2.3 MW / 4.7 MWh battery storage project at an industrial facility in Ontario, and NGK installing a 1.2 MW / 7.2 MWh Sodium-Sulfur battery in Dubai. 

1. New York could target to deploy up to 3 GW of storage by 2030. The current target is 1.5 GW by 2025.
2. Californian startup Lilac says it has invented a novel way to extract Lithium from brine resources, eventually allowing to halve the extraction costs of Lithium.
3. CellCube announced that it has shipped a battery system to the German municipal utility Gelsenwasser.
4. EnerNOC, a subsidiary of Enel X, has signed an agreement with Amhil North America, a packaging company, to deploy a 2.3 MW / 4.7 MWh lithium-ion energy storage system at one of Amhil’s facilities in Ontario.
5. NGK has installed a 1.2 MW / 7.2 MWh NaS battery alongside a 13 MW PV power plant in Dubai.
