This week’s TOP 5 includes Queensland’s shortlisting of ten renewable and storage projects that will compete for the ‘Renewables 400’ auction, the backing of what could be the world’s largest solar-plus-storage project by Australia’s Northern Territory government, the approval of a solar-plus-storage project combining 100 MW of solar PV with 240 MWh of battery storage in Zimbabwe, ConEd’s search for 310 MW of bulk storage and the signing of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act by New York’s governor.
- Ten renewable and storage projects have been selected to take part in an auction led by government-owned corporation CleanCo. 400 MW of renewables and 100 MW of storage will be retained.
- The Northern Territory government has backed Singapore’s SunCable USD 20 billion project that intends to mix 10 GW of solar PV with 20 to 30 GWh of storage.
- Zimbabwe’s energy regulator, ZERA, gave Matshela Energy the green light for a project combining 100 MW of solar PV with 240 MW of battery storage.
- Consolidated Edison (ConEd) and its subsidiary Orange and Rockland Utilities (O&R) issued a joint request for proposals to procure a minimum of 310MW of bulk storage.
- New York’s governor has signed into law the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). This act codifies the Green New Deal commitment to install 3 GW of storage by 2030, among others.
