Energy Storage News - March 13th, 2020

This week’s TOP 5 talks about New South Wales’ green-light for 1 GW of solar plus 230 MW of storage, Long Island’s request for information regarding the potential of energy storage in reducing peak demand and cutting carbon emissions, Total’s plans for France’s largest battery storage project, Zenobe Energy’s role in a ‘world-first’ reactive power market and the selection of a redT 2MW/5MWh redox flow battery for UK’s Energy SuperHub Oxford project.

  1. New South Wales gave its go-ahead for two solar-plus-storage projects totaling 1,010 MW of solar PV and 230MW/430MWh of storage.

  2. The Long Island Power Authority is looking for ideas regarding the use of 155 – 175 MW of energy storage to reduce peak demand and cut carbon emissions.

  3. Energy major Total will be building a 25MW/25MWh battery storage system, France’s largest.

  4. Zenobe will be testing a 10 MW battery system to provide reactive power services to UK’s electric grid.

  5. Pivot Power selected redT to deliver a 2MW/5MWh vanadium redox flow system to make part of the Energy SuperHub Oxford project.
