Energy Storage News - March 20th, 2020

This week’s TOP 5 talks about Nevada’s energy storage target of 1 GW by 2030 bringing the national target to at least 7,575 MW, the 50-MW extension of UK’s giant 100MW/100MWh Minety Battery Storage Project, the awarding of two 20-MW, solar-coupled, storage projects in New York, Iberdrola’s plans to produce hydrogen in Spain by coupling electrolysers to 100 MW of solar plus 20 MWh of battery storage and NEC’s delivery of the world’s largest storage system to be financed by crowdfunding.

  1. Nevada became the sixth US state to adopt an energy storage target: 1000 MW by 2030 starting with 100 MW by the end of this year.

  2. Penso Power got the approval for a 50-MW expansion of its upcoming 100MW/100MWh Minety Battery Storage Project.

  3. New York’s governor awarded two solar-plus-storage projects combining 470 MW of solar PV with 40 MW of energy storage under a 1.3 GW portfolio of large-scale renewable projects.

  4. Iberdrola is planning to develop a solar-plus-storage-plus-hydrogen complex in Puertollano, Spain. The €150-million project will cover 100 MW of solar, 20 MWh of Li-ion battery storage and multiple electrolyser technologies.

  5. NEC ES will be delivering a 12 MW project to GIGA Storage in the Netherlands - the world’s largest energy storage system to be financed by crowdfunding.
