Energy storage news - November 16th, 2018

This week’s TOP 5 includes the approval of four large energy storage projects in California representing over 2.2 GWh of storage capacity, UK-based investor Gresham House raising 100 M£ for its energy fund, the acquisition of Sharp’s energy services business by NantEnergy, a plan to install a 1 MW / 4 MWh battery system in Tennesse by MidAmerican Energy Company, and a partnership between Stem and Ontario Power Generation.

1. The California PUC approved Pacific Gas & Electric's proposal to build 568 MW and 2.27 GWh of battery storage in Moss Landing to cope with the decommissioning of three gas power plants in the area.
2. Gresham House has raised 100 M£ for its new fund dedicated to energy storage.
3. NantEnergy (formerly known as Fluidic Energy) has acquiredSharp Electronics Corporation's US-based energy systems and services business, which develops and delivers energy management systems across the country.
4. MidAmerican Energy Company has announced plans to install a 1 MW / 4 MWh battery energy storage system in Knoxville, Tennessee. The system will be deployed by Invenergy.
5. Stem is partnering with Ontario Power Generation to deploy behind the meter energy storage systems in Ontario.
