This week’s TOP 5 includes a 50 MW / 250 MWh Liquid Air Energy Storage system being deployed by Highview in the UK, the entry of Spanish developer Acciona in the US energy storage market, Saft deploying 2 MWh of battery storage in Australia, a 49 MW project acquired by Gresham House in the UK, and over 11 MW and 17 MWh of storage being deployed in the French island of Mayotte by Albioma and Total Solar.
- Highview is deploying a 50 MW / 250 MWh storage system at a decommissioned thermal plant in Northern England.
- “Spanish renewables developer Acciona has acquired 3 gigawatts of solar and 1 gigawatt of storage projects currently under development in the U.S. by Nebraska-based Tenaska.”
- Saft has executed its first projects in Australia, installing around 2MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) at 13 sites in Queensland.
- Gresham House acquired a 49 MW project in the UK. The system is set to be commissioned in December 2019 and will mainly earn revenues on the day-ahead and balancing markets.
- Two stand-alone storage projects have been awarded to Total Solar (4MW / 2MWh for frequency regulation) and Albioma (7.4MW / 14.9MWh for arbitrage) in the French island of Mayotte.
