Energy storage news - September 6th, 2019

This week’s TOP 5 includes Denmark’s allocation of €17 million for energy storage development, the announcement of the $150 million Meru County solar-plus-wind-plus-storage facility in Kenya, Ameren’s plan for 30 MW of solar-plus-storage in Missouri, the intervention of 475 MW of batteries during the UK’s latest blackout and the contracting of 4.3 MW worth of Sunrun residential solar-plus-storage systems in the Hawaiian island of O’ahu.
 
  1. Denmark has allocated €17 million for the development of new large-scale energy storage technologies.
  2. Windlab and Eurus Energy will be developing an 80 MW solar-plus-wind-plus-storage facility in Kenya.
  3. Ameren Missouri announced its plans to invest $68 million in the development of three grid-scale solar-plus-storage projects.
  4. 475 MW of batteries helped bring the UK’s network back online following last August’s blackout.
  5. One thousand Sunrun residential solar-plus-storage systems are expected to deliver 4.3 MW of capacity for grid services to the Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO).
